Black Women’s Leadership Forum (BWLF) members are those who have completed our “Signature” Workshop” Overcoming Internalized Racism: Parts I & II and have made a decision to continue their journey of healing, learning, and to grow their knowledge and confidence in this arena. We hold special “member-only” events each year, designed to increase our knowledge of our history and ourselves. These events and activities help to increase our understanding and our skill sets to actually ‘do the work’ by planning and facilitating workshops and events.
I solemnly pledge to honor and respect my sisters, as I honor and respect myself.
I pledge to not commit any act of aggression or verbal assault against my sisters.
I pledge to support my sisters in their endeavors, so that they may become prosperous,
and be positive contributors to our community.
I pledge to remember in my attitude and action that I am my sister’s keeper.
These things I pledge to myself, my sisters, and my community.
Asé, Asé, Asé-o!
Those with whom we have an expectation of shared experience in BWLF; this entails different degrees of relationships and connections.
Even as sisters, we all have multi-layered needs and perspectives and may define these sisterhood traits differently. Some needs can be fulfilled within BWLF and some cannot. (For example, we can support each other around our various health needs but it’s unlikely we can actually fulfill them.) When we have doubts or disagreements, and we will, let’s have open conversations so we’re on the same page with our expectations of each other.
