BWLF is a membership organization of Black women in Rochester, New York, dedicated to improving relationships between and among Black women. We approach this work with honesty and integrity.

Mission

The Mission of BWLF is to develop leaders who understand internalized racism, and to work intentionally to support Black women in overcoming its impact.

Vision

BWLF envisions a time when our thoughts, words and deeds towards ourselves and our sisters are caring and supportive, in a world where internalized racism does not exist.

Guiding Principles

Guiding Principle #1

We believe that the acquisition of Knowledge & Wisdom is the foundation of learning and growth, and we commit to providing the resources and tools for this to happen.

Guiding Principle #2

We encourage affirming Sister Relationships built on honesty, trust and forgiveness, and to commit to creating safe space to take care of ourselves and each other.

Guiding Principle #3

We support Leadership excellence that is responsible and accountable, and that motivates and inspires others.
